Kurt Buttigieg is an intermittent artist and unwavering bricoleur from Malta, based in Brussels, Belgium.

He’s been involved in the long and short fringes of experimental music for years – gawking at it, making it, writing about it and organising gigs.

An occasional contributor to
The Wire magazine and other platforms, he founded a label called Complex Holiday in 2020. He’s also a member of a non-profit called Arsha Our and half of “nervous, pulsing ambient” duo Ayn Il Widen.

Kurt’s music is centred around time, perception and memory, with an array of spinning things: repurposed vinyl, hand-spooled tapes, slowed-down microcassettes and inside-out hard drives.

Kurt studied sound art at the University of Barcelona, makes squiggly open-source fonts, dabbles in woodwork and visual art… but all he really wants to do is eat and swim.
