Ildéard is Kurt Buttigieg (Malta; electronics, voice) and Welleda Muller (France; voice, vielle, violin). Based in Brussels, Belgium.

“A project as indebted to the electronic and experimental currents of dissonant ambient as it is to the songwriting structures of Occitan troubadours.”

This project developed as a way to break out of structures which are too familiar – those of medieval and classical music for Welleda and those of experimental electronic music for Kurt. It is a constant work in progress as we attempt to find common ground or pull the carpet from under each other’s feet.

Ildéard is named after 12th century mystic writer, polymath and musician Hildegard of Bingen.
